Do Animals Speak to Each Other The Way People Do??!!

Introduction:

First to Say:

     Language is a very complex form of communication that occurs among human race. It contains a set of verbal and non_verbal conventions used by humans to express their ideas, opinions as well as their needs.

      It`s a special and unique characteristics that give us the ability to engage in abstract and analytic ways. Animals on the other hand also show signs of communications, such as different sounds or movements that we can notice. But, do animals really speak to each other the way people do? Do they have language in its real form?!

Chapter One:

How do Animals Communicate with Each Other?

    Linguists have viewed language as one of the main factors that separates human beings from other animals.

 Some have argued that language is a unique human behaviorand that animal communication falls short of human language in a number of important ways. Chomsky (1957) claims that human beings possess an innate universal grammar that is not possessed by other species. This can be readily demonstrated, he claims, by the universality of language in human society and by the similarity of their grammars. No natural non-human system of communication shares this common grammar.

Chomsky`s view tells us that animals don`t have spoken language, but they communicate with each other using  sounds and meaningful gestures. Lots of animals can communicate by making noises which we can`t understand. Birds for instance do this when they sing, cats when they meow and purr, and dolphins when they click and whistle. Researchers translate such noises to simple phrases like "I`m hungry", "I`m angry", "feed me", and "leave me alone"! But some noises may be quite complex: dolphins chatter to each other constantly as they play, and seem to give each other instructions when they hunt fish together in groups.

     different linguists have different definitions of language, but everyone agrees that language has to have meaning, productivity, and displacement, those are the most important of the aspects that George Yule contends for as the "uniquely human characteristics" in his work (The Study of Language).

Nedless to say that the study of animal communication is a rapidly growing area of study and plays an important part in the disciplines of animals behavior, sociobiology, neurobiology, and cognition. In this content,

Chapter two:

 Proofs of The Holly Qur`an..

 _   Logic and Mentality of Ants and Hoopoe (Hud_hud)

    They might be fighting words in the field of animals and linguistics to say that animals do talk to each other the way people do, especially if a lot of people are invested in the idea that language is one of the things that stands between human beings and beasts.. For centuries philosophers thought that only humans are rational while animals only followed instinct.  Today, scientists have confirmed that animals do not act by instinct alone, they rather have their own logic and communication systems, i.e.  they make rational decisions like human beings, but in a lower scale. The Holly Quran has told this fact since 1400 years ago..!

The Holly Quran gives us an interesting piece of information when talking about the prophet Solomon`s armies and mentions that there is an advanced "communication system" among the ants .

{حَتَّى إِذَا أَتَوْا عَلَى وَادِي النَّمْلِ قَالَتْ نَمْلَةٌ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّمْلُ ادْخُلُوا مَسَاكِنَكُمْ لَا يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ سُلَيْمَانُ وَجُنُودُهُ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ}

[Quran 27.18]

{ Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, "O ants, enter your homes so that you do not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers while they do not feel it." }

Here it`s so obvious that the ants do have their logic and do communicate within their own species even if we do not understand their language.

Recent scientific researches made on ants have shown that there is an incredible communications network among these creatures. The ants, with their various communication methods, may be compared to men who can speak several foreign languages. They can communicate with 3_4 different languages among themselves, and they are able to pursue their lives in the least problematic manner. Most ants have a natural washboard and plectrum built into their abdomens that they can rub together to communicate using sounds. By Using miniaturised microphones and speakers that can be inserted unobtrusively into nests, researchers established that the queens can issue instructions to their workers. The researchers were so astonished after the first recordings of the queen ants "speaking", and they also discovered that other insects can mimic the ants to make them slaves.  Ants also have quite a different method of communication in virtue of their sensitive sensing organs. They employ these sense organs at every moment of their lives, from finding their pray to following each other, from building their nests to fighting. They have a communication system which astonishes us, as a human beings with intellect,  with their 500,000 nerve cells squeezed into their bodies of 2 or 3 millimeters.

Another example the Holly Quran produces in this concern in  Surah 27: 20(Ayah) by talking about the elegant bird hoopoe (hud_hud) when the prophet Solomon reviewed his birds and found the Hoopoe (Hud_hud) absent.

{﴿20﴾ وَتَفَقَّدَ الطَّيْرَ فَقَالَ مَالِيَ لآ أَرَي الْهُدْهُدَ أَمْ كَانَ مِنَ الْغَآئِبِينَ﴿21﴾ لاُعَذّ‌ِبَنَّهُ عَذَاباً شَدِيداً أَوْ لاَذبَحَنَّهُ أَوْ لَيَأْتِيَنّـِي بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ﴿22﴾ فَمَكَثَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ فَقَالَ أَحَطتُ بِمَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِ وَجِئْتُكَ مِن سَبإٍ بِنَبَإٍ يَقِينٍ}

Surah 27: 20

{20. “ And he reviewed the birds; then he said: ‘How is it with me that I do not see the hoopoe? Or is it that he is of the absentees?’”21. “ Certainly will I chastise him with a terrible chastisement, or will I slaughter him, or he brings me a clear reason (for his absence).” 22. “ But the hoopoe tarried not long, then he (came and) said: ‘I have comprehended that which you have not comprehended, and I have come to you from Sheba with a sure tiding}

     Prophet Solomon expresses his anger and his desire to punish Hoopoe severely if it doed not show up before Him with a reasonable excuse. Soon after the Hoopoe returns saying, “ I have obtained knowledge of things which you have no knowledge. I have brought sure information about Saba. There I have seen a woman ruling over her people: she has been given all sorts of provisions, and she has a splendid throne. I saw that she and her people prostrate themselves before the sun, instead of Allah.!"

The Holly Quran explains that the Hoopoe has almost a full logic defending itself before prophet Solomon with a reasonable excuse for his absence, and his ability to discuss about Saba shows us his logic and mentality.

Therefore, it would not be right to regard animals as organisms which are totally unconscious, because they do have a consciousness which reflects that they have submitted to the will of the Creator and which act under His inspiration.. Indeed, Allah draws attention in the Qur'an to this interesting fact and notifies us that all living things are, in fact, a community among themselves, that is, they live under a Divine order and in accordance with inspiration.

Conclusion:

     Language in general is a form of communication. Animals communicate with each other using different devices ;  mouths, , becs, wings, bodies, gestures or  even by smells, and each one of those is definitely a form of language understood within each family. If we as human beings do not understand their language, this does not mean that they have no one. We do not understand the language of African tribes or Askimo people but this also does not mean that they have no language . The difference is that language of those people is able to be learned, while language of animals is under the Knoledge of Allah only. Each creature has his organs of speech either by the vocal cords as the case for us, or the expressions devices of animals, we can call them all language in general The Holly Quran stood the test of time 1,400 years ago with the Claims that animals do speak within their species, and in our day today  It gets the overwhelming agreement with science and discoveries that were not known to man 1,400 years ago. Today, the scientific researchers have agreed with what the Holly Quran says since 1400 years ago, that  the animals are a society of living beings who act under Allah`s inspiration. Therefore, again, it would not be right to regard them as organisms which are totally unconscious, because all living things are, in fact, a community among themselves, behaving as communities and communicate with each other using languages like human beings, even if it is in a lower scale..!
